Stress resistance in barley cultivars of various agroecological origin under extreme continental climate conditions

Background. The barley collection at the N.I. Vavilov AllRussian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR), being main source material for breeding, is insufficiently studied under conditions extreme continental climate. purpose research was to assess adaptability cultivars held by VIR continentality. Material and methods . targets were 24 representing various breeding centers tolerance regions Russia. cultivar ‘Omsky 91’ developed Omsk Agrarian Scientific Center used as reference. Results discussion According genetic profiles alleles hordein-coding loci, provided General Genetics, more than 70% (‘Chelyabinsky 99’, ‘Priazovsky 9’, ‘Zadel’, ‘Sokol’, ‘Zernogradsky 584’, ‘Zadonsky 8’, ‘Khadzhibey’, ‘Beatrice’, ‘Knyazhich’, ‘Zevs’, ‘Kazak’) linear in their loci. homeostasis cultivars, stability indices plasticity levels calculated. Their intensity measures selection differentials determined. Conclusion assessment based on sum ranks (calculated using abovementioned parameters) showed that monomorphic 9’ ‘Chelyabinsky 99’ well cv. ‘Severyanin’ (not listed State Register Selection Achievements) most adapted climate (sums ranged from 8 29). identified confirmed high-yielding hybrid populations produced crossing selected adaptable with cvs. 95’ released Center. obtained lines demonstrated higher yields both mean yield parent (+1.20 t/ha) best (+0.76 t/ha).
